How do you shift the money blues? How do you react when unexpected expenses or adversities crop up? Are you a pro at maintaining prosperity thinking?
Last week, my husband noticed water dripping from our upstairs shower. We called the plumber right away. The next day, my car started revving loudly, so it needed to go into the shop. $1900 worth of work.
And on the same day, one of our air conditioning units stopped working. All within 48 hours.
“This is no coincidence,” I pointed out to my mom.
She shrugged, “Your house is several years old. Your car is not new. Things just happen. It’s just wear and tear.”
“No,” I insisted, “This is not. It is a direct reflection of my recent thoughts and behaviors.”
These 3 events were way out of the norm for our family. I teach about prosperity, and we have been blessed to manifest much abundance in our lives. This time, the Universe claimed my attention.
What was I doing to create this unwanted stream of events?
Confession time: my mom and grandmother were visiting. And I started down that slippery slope of a familiar but unhealthy pattern of family gossip. It was not malicious–but involved taking other family members’ inventory and wrapping our minds into solving their problems (unasked) when I just need to focus on being the creator of my own life.
And while we were talking, I felt sick, but just ignored it. I was following that deep groove of relating and connecting to my mom–while talking about others. And it was enticing.
And it was bigger than this, I was enacting a long history with my mom, coaching her and trying to get her unstuck, when she didn’t really ask for my help or advice.
The Universe spoke. My body spoke. My energy was zapped.
I quickly turned this around by paying attention. I laughed at the silliness of these events. I felt grateful for the help I received from my plumber and contractor, from the autoshop, and the air conditioning technician. I was glad to have the financial resources to pay for these expenses. I prayed to God and asked for forgiveness and resolved to do better. I discussed this unhealthy pattern of relating with my mom. I knew that during a challenging week that things were just about to get really, really good. My commitment to my vision was being tested.
By asking the question, how am I creating this is in my life? You are positioned to shift.
3 Tips to Shift the Money Blues
Here are the 3 tips I used to shift the money blues or out of scarcity thinking back to prosperity thinking:
- Ask the question: how am I creating this in my own life? And change what is necessary.
- Find gratitude for the blessings.
- Stay committed to your vision. Dig down deep. It is going to get really good if you push on through.
I am in the middle of launching a group program Attract Your Ideal Client Bootcamp, which starts August 6th. I am so excited about this new direction for my business as I help entrepreneurs create fully booked practices, but this last week definitely tested my resolve.
Maintaining prosperity thinking takes mastery–otherwise, the entire world would be prosperous.
What are your thoughts on my reaction to last week’s challenges? What do you do when your resolve to living in the flow of abundance is tested?
Thanks, something I really need to thimk about.
I’m glad, Lorraine. I think about this stuff all the time. It is quite a responsibility to be a creator and a steward of the gifts and resources we’ve been given.
Oh Tara! My relationship with my Mom & sisters sounds so much like yours. And I’m always trying to “coach” them with out their permission. My eyes began to tear when you said ” I just need to focus on being the creator of my own life.” Thank you. You opened a door for me to walk through. I love the tips. Thank you for this post. <3
Looking back at my childhood, I learn to be grateful for those experiences. I think that’s why I am so passionate about the message of getting unstuck. But now, I help people who are ready and willing to step forward. And that feels awesome to participate in their process. Rather than wasting energy on my loved ones who just need me to love and accept where they are on their journey.
I’m glad this post resonated with you.
Thanks Tera for the reminder to take responsibility for what shows up and to be willing to change our functioning!!
My pleasure, Amare! I appreciate your comment.
Since we have arrived in America (5 months) and started a business, my husband and I have been thinking and talking about how we can do what we want to do with the money that we have. I have realized that what I was really tapping into was ‘limited’ resources.
There is no such thing of course but the patterns we were living were creating more of what we asked for by our vibration. Limited resources.
It was a big aha moment for us and we appreciate the clarity.
My experience with the unexpected expenses these past two weeks has been similar. I’m wondering if for me it’s because I have been reading constantly about blocks and being stuck That’s where my focus has been and it seems to be bringing more blocks to try to break trough. I think it’s pushing me to start my business instead of spending so much time trying clear blocks first.
When you say to find what’s creating this in your life and then change what’s necessary, this is where I get really hung up. For the last year, I have been attracting unwanted pests around my property. Mosquitos…just my property, not neighbors’. I get rid of them. Then flies. I get rid of them. Then ferrell cats…again, just my property. I get rid of them. And now ants, ants, everywhere ants in my kitchen. Okay, I take responsibility for this, something in my own thinking is attracting this. But how do I find out WHAT? I have worked on several different things I think it COULD be and tried to change that, but it just keeps happening. I don’t know where to go from here. I feel exhausted from trying to clear so many different perceived issues without any results.
Have you tried energy work? Often, it lies in our subconscious, and it can even be a generational issue. I find that our frustration is often a very strong emotion that just attracts more of the same. Sometimes, we feel more passionately about what we don’t want than what we do want.
I feel for your challenges right now. Know that there are never problems, only solutions. Everything is fixable.
Good insights! Yes, I’ve tried energy work and had a session with a simply healed practitioner about many different areas. But I think you’re right about being so frustrated about it and keep attracting more of it. I will try to keep my frustrations in check! Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks so much Tera!! I’m SO grateful for this email! It came at the perfect time. I feel as though I’m going through the greatest transformation of my life! These tips are surely helpful and greatly appreciated.Thank you thank you thank you!
I am glad this resonated with you. You are doing amazing work. Keep it up!
Thanks, Tera. This is a needed reminder.
My sister died two months ago. Had she followed my advice years ago she would have lived a healthier, longer life. My brother would be a lot healthier had he taken my coaching years ago. It’s not easy taking my nose out of those lives that I know I can make a difference with. But, you reminded me that I must find the discipline to do that. Thanks again for your candidness.
It is challenging to keep that distance, isn’t it? But then, I am reminded that we are here on this earth to learn how to love. And our loved ones give us that opportunity, yes?
Nicholas, I know exactly what you mean! As a health coach, I want to help everyone! Of course we can make a difference, but only with those who want to change, and who seek out help. I have had clients who pay me to help them, and then ignore my advice. All we can do is send them unconditional love, which is good for us, good for them, and good for the planet.
When frustration creeps in, I have to remember to send lots and lots of love! Tera, thanks so much for this email, and all your work. I am grateful!
Thanks for the support, Ann. Yep, I want to help everyone. After all, it worked for me.
Wow, a lot to think about! I was trying not to put too much into the ants all over the kitchen at my house and this leaky dishwasher. This was a great email, now to work on the blocks. Thanks Tera
Right on time. Thank you.
Funny that you posted this now Tera. My car alternator just died and I let it dampen my mood. Come to find that someone had let the air out of my bike tire after I returned to it after work which also dampened my mood. But when I realized what was happening, I dug down deep, thanked the Universe for opening my eyes to my thought patterns and took the walk home as a blessing. I ended up collecting objects along the way to create a project I had been putting of for some time. Shifting my reaction has brought some very positive people back into my life that have helped raise my vibration these past couple days. I’m so grateful for them and you! Thanks Tera!
Glad to know you shifted! Thanks for your response. It is so empowering to really get that we are creators.
My Friend sent this to me after I vented about the frustrations facing me again and again. The power of positive thinking is no “Secret” to me, however it seems that what to comes to my life is often from habit not intention. My plate is becoming cleared because of many things one of which is my thoughts that my primary source of income is not creating joy in my life and that it is “hard” on me my relationships and my body. Thoughts didn’t go in the direction of what I want, just want I don’t want. Now I don’t have the Job, yet I still have the car payments, house payments……….. Praying for clarity yet still unclear. Working on seeing my plate filled with Light.
